Eat or Sew?


I'm having a bit of a dilemma today.
It's a beautiful sunny day, and I really want to just stay home where it's nice and peaceful (except for some horrible dog that keeps barking in one of the neighbours backyards) and sew.

There's plenty of meat in the freezer, and lots of packaged things in the pantry, but the problem I have is that there's not a skerick of edible fresh food to be found in the house. The current fruit and veg supply consists of a plateful of old limes that have seen better days, and a few brown onions in the pantry.

Even the milk is out of date!

How long does it take before you end up with scurvy?

  1. Have you got any sultanas? Soak them for a bit and then pop them in the fruit bowl, as a pretence of fresh fruit. Can you tell what a terrible mother I must be?!

    I vote sew and enjoy the sun ... and order takeaway! Scurvy will take months to set in.

  2. haha - go out, and after picking up some fresh fruit, pop into a couple of fabric stores and op shops... surely that's nearly as good as a sewing day??

  3. It has been ages since I ate anything fresh and I don't think I have scurvy. I say just relax and eat chocolate.

  4. you need aussie farmers! they deliver fresh fruit and veg and milk and bread to your door missy!

    they don't do my area up here in sydney....but I have my own fruit and veg man so there are no excuses in my house

    mind you I am enjoying chocolate at the moment since keira isn't too fond of it (works for me!)

  8. This post made me laugh as I had a biscuit and popcorn for dinner on Sunday night. I was wondering the same thing about scurvy. I think you should be OK if you ate a lime or 2- would the day at home sewing be worth it? Maybe it would I think.

  10. OMG - juice those limes immediately!!! Make a whopping huge gin and tonic or maybe a lime pie or big batch of lime curd and eat it all at once on toast. Unfortunately, the overdue milk looks remarkably familiar.

  12. You crack me up. I have struggled with similar dilemmas myself, I do Corn fritters on those days from canned or frozen corn and show everyone the clever thing I made instead of going out hunting for more food for them.
