Ignoring Swiney

Hmmmm I seem to be scowling at myself in the camera lens - this was the best of a very bad lot!

Swiney has been out and about gallivanting around the countryside this week on a mission to get noticed. I teamed him with a black jacket on each ocassion so that there was a huge colour contrast between what I was wearing, and Swiney himself.

Sadly, Swiney has been virtually totally ignored by each and every person that I've come into contact with.

Monday Morning

Appointment with Respiratory Specialist (surely he would recognise Swiney).
No comment from the Receptionist upon entry.
No comment from Specialist during appointment.
Wasn't expecting much due to lack of sense of humour.

Thursday Morning

Picking up films from Radiology department at Hospital number one.
No comment from Radiology Receptionist who dealt with my query.
No comment from Radiology Receptionist who delivered my films to the waiting room.
Lots of stares from other people in the waiting room (not sure whether that was due to Swiney or whether they were just staring at me).

Thursday Lunchtime

Dropped into a friends house for lunch.
No comment from the three adult friends who were there.
While eating lunch, the 2 Year Old points out the yellow fuzzy with red bits on my jacket.
Yah for Swiney - he's finally been noticed!

Thursday Afternoon

Appointment at Hospital number 2.
No comment from Receptionist who books me in.
Arrive at day ward.
No comment from the three nurses on duty.
After two hours, one of the nurses tells me "that I always look colourful" when I come in.
Not sure what that means.
Is Swiney colourful? Am I colourful? Do I dress like a freak when I come in? Is it a compliment? Is it an insult? Is she just making conversation? I am wearing an orange t-shirt and matching orange socks after all.
I say "thanks" and just keep reading my book.

Conclusion

The two year old wins the Swiney challenge!

  9. I'm having a great laugh right now, imagining what these people were actually thinking. I bet they thought you just have awful, awful taste in accessories! I mean, how can you miss Swiney, perched there on your black jacket? And the fact that your friends didn't mention anything just seals it. They're thinking you've lost it, and they didn't want to hurt your feelings...

  21. hmm maybe someone would have said something if you a few dozen on your jacket, would have looked more like an infestation of Swineys ;)

"one of the nurses tells me "that I always look colourful" when I come in."
I probably would have gotten in trouble replying to that lol

  25. That's just wrong! Swiney shouldn't need a voice to be noticed. He is special in his own right. What is wrong with people :)

  26. Love your report of the week. I hate it when doctors have a lack of humor, by the way. I need humor when I am at a doctors appointment, don't we all?

Are you going to keep on trying to get swiney noticed or are you giving up? :-)

  27. Poor Swiney, he can't help his looks! The adults were probably just being polite. Maybe you could add him a tiny name tag?

  30. I think you look SULTRY, not surly. Swiney looks fabulous on black. SO funny that nobody in the hospital got the jokeand were embarrassed by your terrible taste in jewellery. At least we all got the giggles over it... How did you keep a straight face?

  32. Lol...makes you wonder what IS on the minds of our health care workers, in the middle of this worldwide epidemic? :p

  33. That's a very stern, no-nonsense look for Swiney. It's the look of a current affairs host- nopt just any current affairs hot. but one who might be seen on the ABC or SBS. Watch out Swiney, Curly Pops is coming!

  34. Hehe, what a great post! I loved it & Swiney is great! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Perhaps next time Swiney should try ringing a bell and shouting "Unclean!".

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do you think that Swiney has become so prevalent that our health care professionals are simply becoming blasé?! Tell them that the second wave is coming ... and that Swiney says I'LL BE BACK!

My Dad has his Swiney sitting on his PC - perhaps I should suggest that he turns his into a tie pin? How good would that have looked on the 7.30 Report last night!!!

  37. lmao!!! I've been flying under the radar of late and missed hundreds of posts in my google reader, but I'm SOOOO glad I stopped by and saw this post. Fabulous Cam!! Have to be honest and say I'm not surprised though - but if you walked into a microbiology lab, well, that'd be another story!
