A Spring Makeover

There has obviously been zero craft action at my place since last Thursday.

My back is sore (and now that we've counted the holes in my back, it looks like ten attempts at the epidural), and my sewing mojo is lost.

I'm still not quite sure what to do next. Do I re-open my online shops? Do I wait and see?

I will be re-stocking my bricks and mortar stockists this week, and finishing off any custom orders before I make a decision.

I did at least spend the weekend doing something useful - with the help of Mr S on Saturday, and Mr X on Sunday, I now have a brand spanking new craft space.

I've ditched all of the old mismatched furniture, and replaced it with two new white shiny sewing tables and three storage bookshelves/cupboards.

There's still lots of tidying to be done, but at least it's completely functional as it is!

For those playing at home - the desks are Micke and the bookshelves/cupboards are Billy with doors - all from Ikea.

The best thing is that I didn't step foot anywhere near Ikea - I used Big Swedish Store Run. They went shopping and picked it all up from Ikea, and delivered it to my door.

Now I'm hoping that I might find my mojo lurking in that lovely new space.... off to search!

  1. Listen to your heart this week, Cam. Don't do anything you really don't want to do. Have a little holiday and live it up a little!

Although if my workspace looked like yours does, I might not be able to stop myself sewing something...

PS off to Martha and then Mood fabrics tomorrow. I shall say hi to Martha for you!

  2. You must be in a weird space right now, I guess as Michelle says you should take it easy and look after yourself. I love what you've done with your sewing area, it looks fantastic! Thanks for the Ikea tip too, what a great idea! Good for anyone who can't get there, or can't face the Ikea madness. Hope your week is a settled one, with lots of you time and plenty of chocolate xo

  4. You've had a really rough couple of days. I'm not sure what works for you, but if it were me, I think I would want to lose myself in some sewing. You could always intersperse it with the odd drawer tidy or what-ever, but do what makes you feel good.

Maybe make a list of the stuff that needs to be done so you can stop thinking about it and deal with it later?

  5. Yes, it certainly made it all very real now didn't it! I say potter around, rest up. You'll feel the sewjo return when it wants to.

    Take care sweetie, xx

  6. It all looks great, so functional and clean! Possibly not the time to be making decisions, but for now just go with what you feel like doing rather than what you feel you should be doing?

  7. Space looks fab - I don't think I will get beyond the kitchen table until one of the children goes to University!

And I agree, do what you want not what you have to this week:) Cyndy

  9. Its great that you had this fab space to take your mind off things somewhat over the weekend. It looks brilliant - I love how the two desks fit just right with the ironing board!!! And the storage you chose - wow!! We got those Billy shelves, but I didn't know you could get the bottom cupboard doors on them! Big hugsxxJ.

  12. Your new craft space is amazing..so much room! I think that you should have a 'fill the tank up' week. If you have any energy that isn't used up just looking after yourself and recuperating physically..have a look around for some creative inspiration and fill your tank up, nurture your soul! When you get that new set of lungs the world will look like a different place to you.

  15. Great space, Cam! And I think we've all said it, but maybe it's 'relax and smile' week for you this week. Next week will be here before you know it and you can refine your 'action lists' and get on with life because you'll know what to do when the next call comes. Hugs to you.

  16. I'm having space envy. Sadly, I don't think the ikea furniture is going to improve my my hall cupboard. Your space looks great.
If your mojo is still hiding, I think a BIG piece of cake and a good book could still be enjoyed in that space.
    All the best!

  20. wow!
I wish I had an amazing sewing room like you!
Oh, to be organized, that would be great.
I'd love to see more of your work in your stores, etc.
Do consider coming 'on board' so to speak at Etsy. So many craft people there, I'm sure you will get a big following with lots of orders but do take it easy as you have been through a lot lately.

  24. I did like the old eclectic style but all in one colour is great too. A change is as good as a hoiliday so enjoy your time in the new room. And if you can't find your mojo then maybe it needs a little holiday too. After all, this is a really stressful time in your life and you don't need to add to it. Cherrie

  29. Coveting your craft space: love the wooden floors and gorgeous white units: only whilst hoovering the carpet floors in our sewing room after a big sewing session and remembering how mum always said wooden floors are the best for a craft room: I made such a mess creating!
