Am I getting old???

This is the scarf the I finished knitting Thursday night...... Mr CurlyPops wore it to work on Friday and not one person even noticed that he was wearing a lovely handknitted scarf......

Anyway, I was sitting in bed lastnight in my pyjamas at 9.30 knitting yet another scarf and watching Valentines Day on the ABC when it suddenly dawned on me...... I think I'm getting old!
I rifled through my bedside drawer to find a notepad and pencil and made a list of reasons why I think I'm getting old......

  • I'm going to the hairdresser today to have some more foils put in to cover the greys
  • I'm knitting in bed and loving it
  • I'm watching far too many tv programs on the ABC and SBS
  • I can watch the 5PM news, then the 6PM news, then the 7PM news
  • I'd prefer to watch a documentary than a comedy
  • I'd prefer to curl up on the couch with a dvd than go to the movies
  • I'd rather go out for breakfast, than dinner
  • I only wear comfortable shoes (and undies)

Maybe that last one was far too much information!

Hmmmm, time for a cup of tea and a biccie......

  1. Oh my gosh, don't worry I can totally relate to all of these (except the news). Hmmm... maybe I'm getting old too :)

  4. At least you didn't try and enrol in an overlocking class on a Friday night...no, you're not getting old, just content. My 30's have been the best to date!

  5. I was thinking the same thing the other night while knitting a scarf in bed. I think it is just being content with life.

  7. hmm, I'm nodding at far too many items on your list... what's happening to us!? :D

I LOVE that you had to immediately make a list.. I think that in itself may say more than the items on the list ;)

  8. Oh no! If that list makes you old, it makes me old too! Except for the foils and the knitting, but if we substituted knitting for another crafting activity....

  9. I think you are getting old! BUT I don't think there's anything wrong with it because there are several kinds of getting old, and you seem to be going down the good path!

More and more I'm seeking comfort instead of hipster-tighty-clingy jeans, or shoes that bite the backs of your heels, or underpants that wind up halfway up your crack by noon.

I do think it's so adorable that you ran off to make a list though!

  10. How your post made me smile. I can't knit, but the rest of the list looks very familiar. I would only add that I'm also partial to the 11am news and frequently make comments about "the young people of today".

  11. I love that so many people have said "me too". :)

I don't think its about getting old though, it's about being comfortable with who you are and confident enough to say, bugger what's fashionable, I'm going to do what I like!

I'm with you all the way! (esp the comfy undies!!)

  12. Yes, yes, yes, I'm working my way down the list...yes, yes...my, I'm old too!!!! But if this is old, then it's great (and very comfy!). I'd love a tea and biccie.

  13. Your post made me smile! I could so relate (apart from the documentaries and foils!). BTW your hubby's scarf looks awesome - love the colour!

  14. I can tick far more than 1 of the above! Love the scarf too. You are becoming quite the knitter!

  15. If you're old, then so am I, 'cause I do the same! (except I don't watch the news.)
And alas, the general populace don't necessarily understand or recognise the love and care that goes into handknitted items.
(Scarf is ace by the way!)

  16. What a great scarf - and a great hubby for wearing hand-knitted! I too am old (drinking tea puts me in this category according to one source), but I am PROUD of being old! Go us 1974-oldies!

  17. I think I'm old too and except for the knitting in bed (only because I can't knit)

  18. Me too me too me too! All of them!! Especially comfy shoes and undies and the news after news after news!

The scarf looks great. And maybe ur husby's colleagues were just too jealous to mention it?!

  19. You young people don't know what you are calling getting old! You have just stopped being adolescents and started appreciating comfort :o). I'm feeling that I'm getting old because I have to puff and blow when I pick up something from the floor or lace my shoes etc, or my joints hurt, or I remember things from the 50's. Enjoy your comfort and your growing up!

  20. Well I'm in my 20s and I do a lot of the things on your list! (though luckily no grey hairs yet but I may have just jinxed myself ;)) I watch the news/ABC/SBS in bed while knitting (in comfortable underwear - and other clothes...lol)! (although the only underwear I own is comfortable haha)

  23. I saw a t-shirt on Brunswick Street yesterday that said "Staying in is the new going out"

...so maybe we're not getting old after all, just hip to what's good for us... or, ahem, in strong denial :)

  24. Ha! I ticked all your boxes there, cept I am too crap at knitting to do it in bed, but I'm practising! Maybe when we are 'real old ladies' we'll be hitting the clubs and staying out all night (again!!)

  34. Maybe your hubbie's work colleagues thought it was a bought one!

Wait... I do all of these (except knit in bed, because I don't knit, but I do draw stuff in bed! And I dye my hair because it's a HORRID mouse blonde colour... and it looks grey if I leave it for just a day without washing it!). I think it's being confident, comfortable and honest with yourself abit doesn't have anything to do with age!
