Re-purposing christmas gifts

My sister received this cool Big Pineapple tea-towel for christmas from her step-mother-in-law.
I was supposed to make her an apron months and months ago, so I suggested that we turn the tea-towel into an apron so that she can use it.

It's actually the perfect size for an apron.... I just added some spotty fabric (thanks Cathy) at the sides to make it a bit wider, shaped the top, and then trimmed it all with bias tape before adding some straps. It fits her perfectly!

  1. That is one very cool Apron. I think you had better make some of those for market.

  7. What a great idea... why didn't I think of that!!??!!! I have a historical family teatowel (from a big family reunion a few years ago) that I feel is too good to use to wipe dishes with... maybe an apron would be more fitting! You are so clever!

  13. That looks brilliant!
It goes really well with the polka dot fabric. If that was my tea towel I certainly wouldn't have wanted to just wipe dishes with it.

  15. oh wow you are a mind reader. I keep getting teatowels from my mum and theyre so expensive I just cannot use them on dishes. I started tinkering with my 2009 topics and one was on refashioning cool tea towels. This is something I am definately going to have a go at.
    Cheers

  16. That looks so awesome! :) I think I may have to do the same to some of my retro teatowels.

I've been to see the "big pineapple" on my only trip to Oz, about 6 years ago - boy does time fly!
