Flea Market Finds

It's been a little while since I've had the chance to visit the oppy, but after my visit to Sparkle Heaven earlier in the week, I also managed to pop into the oppy in the same street.

There were four sweet nanas sitting around a table drinking cups of tea and chatting away. It was really lovely to be able to browse the store and listen to their conversation. One of the nanas even commented on my flower brooch (and noticed that it was handmade).... she has good taste obviously!

I was in a little bit of a hurry so after a quick browse, I came away with a brand new in packet vintage tablecloth, some embroidered napkins, and a photo frame so that I can finally hang Liesl's SuperPops on my wall.

I'm not sure whether to use the tablecloth on my table, or chop it up....but first, I'm off to transform that frame into something worthy of SuperPops!

PS - Visit Sophie at the home of Flea Market Finds to play along.

  1. Nice finds! While I was in the op shop this week some sweet oldies were discussing excerise & one was going on about her boogie boarding efforts! I was having a great giggle listening to all the ooohhhs & aahhhs coming from the group & her response "well time isn't on our side ladies, we have to get out there while we can"!

  2. Wow! O wow! I'm totally jealous. Not thatr I need any more tablecloth's in my stash but that is just an incredible find. Especially being still brand new. The size of the flowers reminds me of Marimekko fabrics. Remember YOU deserve treats too. Not just the business. Cherrie

  3. OOOH. I'm thinking skirt for that tablecloth. Not many could pull it off, but you could with bells on. Thinking laterally, it might even still work as a table cloth at a chinese restaurant - you know, with that turny-around-bit in the middle of the round table???

    (excuse me, I'm sleep deprived).

  5. I'm in the mood for an op hop and ventured out this morning ... only to find my faves were shut. I'll try again next weekend. (And don't chop up your tablecloth. It's perfect as is!)

  6. Ooh love your oppy finds of the week! I didn't have time to drop in on my favourite haunts this week, the bank account is happy but I'm feeling the itch!

  8. I usually wait before going the chop, and have a little think about it. Some tablecloths are just too great to cut up, I have a really good table cloth collection now that shall remain uncut. However of course there are some that are destined for other things! Hope you get some more good op shop action asap xo

  11. That op -shop is one of my regulars, always find some great stuff there, from oven trays to clothes, toys, even DVD's! Love your table cloth!
I have used the sparkly/metallic thread in my machine for some free embroidery on felt - but some work better than others, depends on what it is made of. You can get a special machine needle with a bigger hole so it doesn't break as often (due to friction or something?)

  19. I think that I might leave the tablecloth on the table for now. It looks great! Unless I immediately have an idea for it, I usually make the chop descision after living with it for awhile and sometimes it is based on condition and this was is new!
