My Creative Space

Beautiful Hand Dyed wool felt from Me and Ewe

There hasn't been much happening in my creative space this week, apart from a bit of knitting on the couch..... although I did make a start on a super secret birthday pressie (which of course I can't reveal just yet).
I'm currently searching for the perfect piece of something to finish it off. It's one of those things where I'll know it's perfect just as soon as I see it.

Instead, I'm going to reveal snippets of another super secret pressie. Mr X had a list of around twenty things to choose from for this weeks homework assignment. Luckily for us, there was a topic that involved a bit of creativity, so we decided to choose Mother's Day. He was supposed to create a very intricate Mother's Day card, similar to something that you would find in a shop.

Photo has been deliberately (and quite pathetically) blurred so my sister can't work out what it is!

He found everything he needed (and more of course) in my craft stash, and so we decided that there should be a pressie too. He's getting quite good at sewing now - but not so good with the rotary cutting as he's left handed and I'm right handed, so it just doesn't translate!

I'm packing up my crafty basket thisafternoon, so I can head off to the Northern Craft Bonanza tonight, although it's going to be an early finish for me, so I can get lots of sleep and energy reserves ready for the Stitches and Craft Show tomorrow....

In the meantime, I'll be heading over to visit Kirsty's magical linky list to see who else is playing today.

  2. Do we get to see it all after Mother's Day?

I have a lot of rotary cutting to do with my Month coming next for the quilting bee. Maybe MrX could come and practice and help me out ;)

  4. I think it's fabulous that Mr X loves to sew, and that he has a wonderful Aunty to guide him on that path. Maybe he'll be a famous designer one day and it will be all thanks to you!

You've got me totally excited about my birthday now. Bloody hell, I'd better get myself organised for your gift that it so overdue!

    See you later.

  9. What a sweetheart, making her a present too. Can't wait until Cohen can do a bit of homemade present making. Maybe I will have to send him around to your house for some lessons? :)

  11. Oh that is so wonderful. What a generous boy to take so much trouble to create something for his mum. Lovely.

  12. Ahh creative fun with your nephew – great times. I love having my niece over to play in the studio. It’s so rewarding inspiring little ones and teaching skills that they won’t pick up at school. So jealous of your outings, perhaps I have to start planning for an autumn trip to Melbourne next year so I don’t have to miss out on all the fun.

  13. When you think about it sewing is great for boys because it involves a machine, and sometimes computers! Great work with MrX. Can't wait to see the finished product.
