A pressie just for me...
A friend and his daughter came over to visit yesterday to help install my ceiling fans before summer really hits!
So while he was banging and crashing around up in the ceiling, we decided to have a little impromptu sewing session.
To begin with, we worked together to make a little pencilcase for her (which I didn't think to photograph).... and then I left her to it, and she went through my scraps container, and whipped up a little zippered purse just for me.
She made it all by herself. How cute!

My Girl CurlyPops Rocks My World
It's Tinniegirl again, with great news.
I reckon you're going to see CurlyPops back around these parts by the end of the weekend. I've managed to track her down, and have explained that out lives just aren't the same without her daily crafty goodness. So she's heading home. She might be a little worn out after her great adventure but I'm sure she'll be back before we know it.
So let's talk about CurlyPops for a minute why don't we. You know, while we've still got the microphone.
So Cam, from me to you, you're the best kind of peeps. You're kind and generous, and funny and thoughtful. You're super-talented and super-smart. These days I find it hard to remember a time when we weren't mates. And that's just how I like it. You're not just a friend, you're family, for both me and Ms L. You truly do rock my world.

Flea Market Finds
Sometimes you don't find things........ they find you*
It's sorta like fate
Like it was meant to be.
I received a phone call from a friend,
Who wanted to pass on some treasures
How could I possibly resist???
Visit Sophie for more of todays Flea Market Finds....
* I'm quite intrigued by the reels of cotton - they're all in a very similar colour palette, and I would love to know what they were originally intended to be used for.

Blogtoberfest Day 3: Kiddie Craft
I had some friends pop in for a visit thisafternoon and the kiddies were very excited and wanted to make something as soon as they walked in the door.I promised that I'd put a photo on the blog.
Purple felt flower brooch by Sian
Blue felt flower brooch by Jack
I gave them both some extra supplies to take home so that they could make a doily brooch each.
What fun!

A bit of re-organisation
My kitchen cupboards have been an absolute shemozzle ever since I moved into my new house. I never really had the time (or the inclination) to sort out the mess.
The biggest problem was that I moved from a lovely big ergonomically designed (by me) kitchen, to a little poky, poorly designed kitchen with inaccessible corners.
So of course, when I moved, everything was just shoved into the cupboards wherever it would fit, and the mess has stayed like that ever since...... until today.
A girlfriend came over to visit and spent the entire time cleaning and re-organising my cupboards while I watched and listened to her lessons.
I had to take photos, because this will be the one and only time the cupboards will look this good!Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Toning it down
I have a love of big, bright, bold, 'in your face' colour..... and so I found it quite amusing when a girlfriend requested some new wraps for her baby daughter. She was happy for me to choose the print / pattern of the fabrics. The only specific request was that she wanted a 'toned down' version of what I would usually make.I headed for the very large unhelpful chain fabric / craft shop yesterday in search of some 'toned down' fabrics.....
.....and this is about as 'toned down' as I can manage.

Whoops
Life has been a little hectic at my place lately. Always too many things to do and not enough time and energy to get it all done.I'd had a request from a girlfriend a few weeks ago for some new bibs. Her kiddies are very dribbly, and so she wanted some thicker bibs with an extra layer of flannel in the middle.
I was eating dinner Wednesday night when I suddenly remembered that I hadn't made the bibs, and I was going to be heading to her house on Thursday for lunch.
Quick as a flash, I cut them out (including the extra layer) and sewed them together......
.... and then realised that I put the bottom flannel layer on back to front. This is one of those times when I should take heed of the lesson learned, and not start new sewing projects after dinner. Hmmm let's see if that works!

Friends!

I went out for lunch again today with some friends that I used to work with........ and I received a lovely gift all wrapped up in floral paper. When I opened it, it was this gorgeous multicoloured handknitted scarf!

The lovely knitter and I worked together for eleven and a half years.......and I had no idea that she could knit! She whipped this up for me on the weekend while sitting in front of the fire (it was very chilly in Melbourne last weekend).
We sat outside at Villa & Hut for lunch and I was lovely and toasty and warm with my new scarf around my neck. Thankyou Chrissy, I absolutely love it!
