Hit By Dog - a Bonkers story!

Sheesh! The days have been flying by around here...

I don't want to be one of those people that keep apologising for not blogging. The truth is that I'm making up for lost time, and I'm trying really hard to get back to work, push forward with my business, do some charity work, keep up my fitness regime, and spend lots of time with family and friends. It seems that blogging might take a little back of a back seat to all of that now.

Anyway, one of the most bonkers things ever happened on Tuesday. I took the day off work to spend with my nephews. We had a lovely morning. We had choc chip pancakes for brekky, and then headed to the bike shop...

.....then Spotlight (they weren't too impressed with that), the toy shop...

.... and to see Tom and Jerry and then make maraccas at the Tom and Jerry craft table!

After lunch we went for a little bike ride, before heading to the local park.

So as the boys were riding their bikes around the lake at the park, and I was walking along minding my own business and listening to music, a huge labrador ran straight at me and hit me in the legs. It completely knocked my feet out from under me, and I landed directly on the concrete path, right on my coccyx.

I ended up getting carted off to hospital in an ambulance, and spent five hours waiting in emergency to see a doctor and get an x-ray to make sure I had no fractures.

If it didn't hurt so much, it would have been bloody hilarious!

But now I'm thinking, on such a beautiful day, there were hundreds of people at the park (school holidays), why on earth did that dumb dog choose me?

Merry Christmas To All

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm going to be celebrating in style today wearing my gorgeous new Polly Pratt dress.

It's being teamed with this lovely Cooper St jacket that I picked up at the oppy a few weeks ago, and my Dorothy Shoes (of course)

I'd normally try to get away and have a bit of a holiday at this time, but this year I need to stay in Melbourne so that I'm close enough to the hospital just in case the phone rings in the middle of the night.

Anyway, today is the perfect opportunity to thank each and every person who takes the time to read this little blog every day, everyone who leaves a comment, and every lovely customer who has made a purchase from my shop during the year.

Making stuff, stocking my online shop, and blogging are the motivations that keep me going each and every day........ and every reader, every comment, and every purchase spurs me on to keep going, instead of just giving up.

So I just wanted to say thankyou... and Merry Christmas.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Even though it was quite chilly and blustery lastnight, we braved the cold and headed off to Carols in the local park.

Luckily the kiddies never seem to notice the temperature!

They were very excited when Santa arrived on a firetruck.

*Made with Love

It's school holiday time at the moment, so two of my nephews have had a few days in the country with Nan (my mum).

She's been texting photos of all of their baking exploits..... they've made homemade cakes and homemade bread.

They came home yesterday and this is the little surprise that I found waiting for me on my kitchen bench.

*I'm quite sure that my mum would have nudginly suggested he write the 'made with love' on the label, but it's pretty darn cute anyway!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to one and all!

Maybe I should have made them some bunny ears???

* BTW that's a horse.... just in case you were thinking that it was a multi-storey motor car garage.

Escaping to the Country

I packed three of my nephews into the car yesterday, and took a little drive to the country to visit my mum.

Even though it was hot in Melbourne, there was a lovely cool breeze down in the south west of the state.

Gypsy the Shetland loved all of the extra attention.... the poor old ducks, not so much!

The boys were able to collect eggs from the chooks, ducks and turkeys.

The quails had just had little babies on Friday, so there were five tiny little yellow fluff balls (and one grey one) running around the bottom of the bird aviary.

The little boys collected turkey feathers with Nana to create these fantastic headbands. I just need to add some elastic to the backs of them, and then return them.

It was such a lovely day out. I really should do it more often!

Fussy Bugs

On Monday, I took my two eldest nephews on a Minibeast Safari which is part of the Summer By The Sea program run by the DSE.

We learned all about the different types of bugs and insects that live in our waterways, and how the fussy bugs determine the quality of the water. Basically, if you can find fussy bugs, then the water is nice and clean.

After learning about the types of bugs that we would find, everyone had a turn at catching some bugs with the net.

Then the boys had to separate the tadpoles from the bugs.... so that the bugs didn't end up being lunch!

With their tray of Minibeast Soup, they had to identify and separate the different bugs....

.... and then they were also able to build model bugs.

Sasha from Melbourne Water did a fabulous job in keeping all of the different aged kids entertained and interested the whole way through the session, and the boys had a great time.

The Summer By The Sea program has lots of free activities, and you can also keep up to date on Facebook.

** No Minibeasts were harmed during the safari (they all ended up back in their little pond)
**Good news - we found Fussy Bugs which means that the water was nice and clean
**Thanks to Beky for the tip off!

Sunshine and Manbags

It's such a beautiful morning, and I'm feeling all inspired. Let's hope it lasts!

I suddenly realised yesterday afternoon that it's my second eldest nephews birthday tomorrow, and I hadn't made him a pressie. We're having cake at lunchtime today, so there was a bit of a mad panic rush lastnight to whip something up.

Manbag to the rescue....

Easter Bunny Eve

We started off Easter Bunny Eve at the Daylesford Makers Market thismorning. It's always lovely to combine a market with a weekend away in the country.

We had lots of bloggy visitors during the day including Tracey who came all the way from Adelaide, and Jess who came all the way from Sydney! It was also lovely to finally meet Jemma and Marilyn, and to see Bec, Liz, Margaret, Angela, Beck, Serena, Anna, Rachelle, Celeste..... Oh gee I hope I haven't missed anyone!

Sel and I headed back to Clunes after we packed up, and met the boys back at Widow Twankeys where it was chocolate milkshake o'clock.

Little did we know that they'd already been treated to a chocolate milkshake earlier in the day, so we headed to the skate park with the scooters and bikes to burn off some of that extra energy.

Now it's time for beddy byes while they wait for a certain Eater Bunny to deliver some chocolate eggs in the morning - apparently the Easter Bunny prefers Kirks Creamy Soda with his carrots.
