Roosters and Barns

I've been busy sewing up a storm and getting ready for the market.

This is one of yesterdays creations - gorgeous vintage tea towel that I received in my pay it forward gift from Bec early in February, which has now been transformed into a teatowel apron.

I still have lots and lots more to do!

Eeeeeeeeekkkkkk!

That was the sound of me squealing with delight when I arrived home from Brown Owls lastnight. For some strange reason, I didn't check the mailbox yesterday, so when I came home there were two lovely packages waiting for me.
The first one flew in all the way from Canada. I won a fabulous giveaway on Kyla's blog. There's a vintage Golden Hands book, vintage patterns, vintage Vogarts embroidery transfers, lovely stickers, and McCalls recipe cards from 1973 (including a recipe for coconut chocolate cake...yum)!

Beautiful fabric, a lovely handwritten card and a sweet little embroidered postcard with Kyla's motto.
....and vintage zips and some floss and some twill tape and buttons! Thankyou so much Kyla for such a wonderful gift.

In the second package was a fabulous pay it forward that I signed up for on Ingrids blog not long after I started blogging. There's is some gorgeous fabric (I'm thinking of making something kitchen related with that one), vintage buttons and ric-rac, and gorgeous gift tags!

.....a beautiful handmade card and two vintage books. Sew Presents from Scraps (1974) has some great projects and templates and Cotton Cat and Martha Mouse (1966) is the most wonderful story about working together and sharing....

It has beautiful illustrations too.....

Thankyou so much Kyla and Ingrid....you made my day, actually you made my week!

PIF Goodies

I forgot to check the mail yesterday until my nephew came from school ....... amongst the bills and junk mail was a cute little parcel all wrapped up in brown paper and tied up with a pretty ribbon and tag.

A few months ago, I had a pay it forward challenge on my blog and one of the recipients was the lovely Libby from Zoesquid.

She had a pay it forward challenge on her blog to pass it on, but as a lovely suprise, she also sent me back a pay it forward gift.

The cutest little pincushion and some lavender sachets for my drawers.......and in one of my favourite colours! The lavender sachets smell divine (they might even encourage me to clean out my drawers first)!

Thankyou so much Libby, I absolutely adore all of my pressies!

I'm going to go and buy myself some pretty pins to match my pincushion after I've been to see the endodontist today. I think I deserve some crafty shopping after having a toothache for four days!

Lovely Mail

I had a lovely unexpected suprise when I checked the mailbox thisafternoon!
A gorgeous quilted potholder from Nicola at Nicola's Daisies all the way from New Zealand...

I'd completely forgotten that she was going to send me a Pay It Forward gift.
Look at that beautiful hand stitched binding......I haven't had the patience to try hand stitching a binding yet but this may just give the inspiration to have a go!

There's also beautiful hand stitching on the applique and also around each of the petals.
Thankyou so much Nicola, I love it!

A cool change

The cool change has finally hit Melbourne (until it heats up again tomorrow anyway).

Today I had to move into the kitchen yet again as it's the only room with air-conditioning.

I started on this quilt top which is going to Mum's house for when she's on babysitting duty. The border is a nice thick corduroy. I'm hoping to finish it off tomorrow.

Libby received her pay it forward gift yesterday, check out her excellent modelling on her fab blog!

Now, I'm going to go and savour the cool breeze and open every window and door in the house!

A Sneaky Peek......

I've been to the post office thismorning. I don't think that the people in queue behind me were very happy when they saw that I had 16 parcels to post......but oh well.......that's what the post office is for!

This is a sneak peek of what I posted. I can't reveal all just yet.....

Brown Owls & Pay It Forward Winners!

I had a fantastic time at Brown Owls lastnight. It was so nice to meet some lovely crafty ladies and some fellow bloggers. It was actually quite funny to meet someone and use their real name instead of their blog name.

Thanks to all the girls for helping out us novice embroiderers and organising such a wonderful first meeting. Hopefully I won't be quite as shy and nervous next time.

As you can see from the progress made above over 3 hours, I'm not going to win any speed embroidery championships, but I'm hoping to have my name finished (and maybe even sewn onto a shirt) by the next meeting.

I forgot to post my Pay It Forward winners yesterday. The rules were:

The first three people to comment on this post will receive a gift from me, sometime within the next 365 days. Who knows when it will turn up, or what it will be, but rest assured, it will arrive. All you have to do is promise to make the same declaration on your blog, and send out gifts to three of your lovely readers. Easy Peasy.
If you miss out on being one of the first three, leave a comment anyway because I will draw a random name also. The winner will be drawn next Monday (25th).

So here are the winners:

Sewfunky

Nicola

Melissa Haworth

Leigh

Zoesquid

I changed the rules because I received 5 comments so I'm going to send a gift to everyone sometime in the next 365 days. I will email all the winners this week to get snail mail addresses.

There won't be much craftiness in my house this week as the kitchen floors are being sanded and re-varnished so everything that previously lived in the kitchen is now residing all over the house. There are piles and piles of things with nowhere to put them. At least I now have an embroidery project that I can finish while sitting on the couch watching trashy tv!
