I went on a little op shopping mission with Beccasaurus last week, where she spotted this magnificent vintage dress. We're both a similar size, but I have quite narrow shoulders so it was more likely to fit me (OK, I admit that I might have been doing a happy dance in my head that it was more likely to fit me - sorry Bec).
It's been sitting on my kitchen bench ever since, so I thought it was about time to try it on (with the intention of wearing it to the market today).....
....and now I want to cry
It fits my shouders and my hips, but it's too tight around the boobs and the belly region.
So what to do???
I know that there are plenty of vintage dress lovers out there in blogland, so I'm giving it away.
It's labelled a size 10.5, so when comparing to my current size, I'm thinking that it will fit a slim size 10 or smaller. Frances is approximately a size 8 and it fits her quite easily.
It's 100% polyester baby and in great condition except for a small seam on the front which needs a little bit of re-stitiching. I haven't tried to wash it yet, so it's in the exact condition that I found it at the oppy.

I would be sobbing too.....I'm almost sobbing now as I know it would'nt fit the two "hot spots" you mentioned!
But I have a girl who might like it....OR the bottom half could be transformed into a skirt!

Since becoming a mother I have gone up a size and would fit into this dress very nicely!

I'm reluctant to say that I laughed when I read about the happy dance in your head. I love those happy dances though not when they turn on you. It might fit me - I'm an 8.
Good luck at the market. Wow, such a shame, nothing fits my broad shoulders or boobs from yesteryear. I luckily gave birth to very slim children (take after their father's family, all tall & slim) so like Betty Jo, i'd be converting it. Actually, my assistant Melissa from Peggy-Jean is really slim, easily an 8 so maybe she'd pinch it?? Lovely offer, too sweet of you, love Posie
i feel your pain! i have big "girls" and it can be hard to get a proper fit, even if the material is a stretchy one...

Oh yeah....I was a slim size 10....about 20 years ago! Not for me baby.

I too would be devastated. i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win this dress!! I am back to being a size 10 after my last baby and definately don't have to worry about the boobs being too big, cause after three kids there really isn't much left!! I would even wear it at the April Daylesford Makers Market in your honour with a big badge declaring my LOVE for CurlyPops craft (which is no lie becuase i LOVE my glasses case i bought at the last market). Hope that you have a Happy Velentine's Day and have lots of LOVE (please don't take that the wrong way!?!). Have i mentioned the word LOVE enough??

Oh No!! My little sisters get my op shop left overs if they don't quite work for me. I went out op shopping this week hoping to find the perfect green dress but I cam home with a $2 tshirt instead... and now I know why I was disappointed... Curlypops got there before I did and bought it just incase I didn't make it out in time...I would love a Curlypops hand me down, op shop, vintage dress...

I soooo wish that I could re-work it, but I love it so much that I wouldn't want to ruin it (which would be a very high probability considering the fabric).

Ooh - what a gorgeous dress. It might fit me, I'm a slim size 10 except for my bazookas ;) but I'm willing to try it if I win!
I'm a 10 but not a 1940's 10 which I think is the equivalent of a 6 - because potato chips weren't invented then...
If you don't take Gemmajoy's advice and rework into a skirt, I would send it to Berlin for my sister there, she would twirl it's polyester fantastic round all the great tanzhallen n(which I think is dancehall!)
