Flying Away

No....not me, my mini laptop.

It's heading off all the way to San Francisco to an art retreat, so I thought it deserved to travel in a little bit of style.

I made a very simple padded (iron-on wadding) envelope with snap closures, and then added some handles. It's a little bit wonky, but I was in a big hurry to get it finished.

Bec picked up the gorgeous Ikea fabric for me a few weeks ago - the thought of actually visiting Ikea myself fills me with dread.

Farewell little laptop.... I hope you have fun - and you'd better send me a bloody postcard!

What a gorgeous fabric! Pity you don't get to escort it on its journey!

I'm sure your laptop will have a great time ... and if not, it's sure dressed in style.

Cute bag Cam. I love Ikea fabric - I used some for a panel of a skirt a while ago.

If you head to Ikea late on a Thursday, you can generally avoid the worst of the crowds (it's worth a bit of a look at the fabric at least). It's open to 9.

I live about 10 minutes away, email me and we could meet and take a wander together if you want some company!

Love it - the colours work really well and it will be easily recognised during its journey. What's with the bag going without you - a sad state of affairs!

what a nice friend you are, doing without it for a few weeks! I haven't cut my fabric yet, waiting for the right project- something in the house maybe. I'm procrastinating hard at the packing, it feels a bit like studying- new top nearly finished haha.

It's beautiful Cam, and I am indebted to you for the loan of the laptop and the stylish bag for it to travel in.

I'm sure between me and the bag we'll manage more than a postcard.

Gorgeous bag and lovely fabric. I wish we had Ikea in Hobart. The only time I visited the Melb Ikea it was crazy busy. Hope the bag has a lovely adventure!
