The Bubbas are One

My twin nephews, Noah and Zane turned one today.

Luckily, the sewing machine service man returned my overlocker thismorning, and I managed to drag myself off the couch for just enough time to whip up a birthday pressie.

I have a huge pile of unwanted clothes that have previously belonged to various family members in my sewing stash.

An unwanted / preloved adult pair of jeans is just perfect for re-creating into a little pair of kiddie jeans.

I used two pairs of my sisters old jeans to make these for the twins - I left the half pocket detail in place from the old jeans to actually show that they've been recycled (and I think it looks pretty cool too).

I always have plain t-shirts in the stash - they're perfect for last minute gifts.

So, I also whipped up a couple of appliqued t-shirts using the denim offcut and the same fabulous cowboy print that I received from Stacey.

They'll be wearing their new uber-cool outfits to creche tomorrow. Hopefully, I might get a photo for the blog in their new outfits.

PS - For anyone who is interested - I checked with the Sewing Machine Service man and he services the Western and Northern Suburbs. He picks up and drops off, and the service is $65. His details are in the Yellow Pages here. He even puts a little sticker on the machine so you know when it's mext due for a service (just like when you take your car in)!

PPS - I refused to go to Spotlight last week to buy vliesofix for appliques (after the last debacle), but Nikki told me about a new fusible that she saw at Stitches and Craft. I did some research and bought a new one named Applifix online from Craft Cubby. I'm impressed!

Trendy twinies they'll be. My daughters are twins ( now the high end of their 20's ) and they now cringe at the thought of me dressing them the same!

Super cute! Yes, in my experience you can't make two totally different things for twins, or they will never stop fighting... not that I am talking about me and my twin sister or anything...

Maybe you could stick a Curly Pops sticker on the sewing machine man so he remembers to give you a discount!

My sewing machine guy does pick up and delivery too. He's even been known to fix machines up in carparks while the customer waits.

Great little outfits! I love that they have been recycled!

I have 1 year old twins so am used to seeing the cuteness of 2 of everything... but these made me go oh, oh, oh!! Great idea to use their Mum's jeans.

Very cute and great recycling of the jeans. My twins are a mixed pair and nearly two but I still like to have a theme when I dress them! These are great cause they are not exactly the same but still alike.

Your recycling sounds so much like mine! The jeans are just perfect for little ones, soft and with elastic waistbands. The cowboy fabric is really cool!

AArrgh I see... recycling denim!! Is anything as satisfying? Well yes but this is definitely a sustainable kind of satisfying not Tim Tam satisfying coz that's a whole different level...
