Dead Horse

After reading this post over at Loz and Dinny a few weeks back, I was lamenting the fact that I'd just run out of homemade tomato sauce.....

The manufactured stuff that you buy from the supermarket is just not the same.

Then lo and behold, Gemma offered to send me a bottle, all the way across the Tasman Sea once she'd bottled it all up to Glad's recipe.

I decided that the first meal with my new sauce should be good ol' bangers and mash. It was so delicious that I had bangers and mash two nights in a row, with a limit of three tablespoons of dead horse (I'm rationing it to make it last as long as possible.... sad but true)!

I'm a "rationer" too. I love making things laaaaast. Drives my partner crazy, hehehe.

Enjoy that, it looks delicious!

That's so funny, I agree home made is better though. My whole family and close friends had a similar experience with a homemade eggplant and chilli chutney, you could eat it on anything, may favourite was on toast with poached eggs on top. Then it stopped being made and sold at markets! At least there are similar dead horse recipes!! PS New market on the weekend, did you see? http://the-lark.blogspot.com/2009/05/lark-roadshow.html
Haha, my word verification is "licklid". Honest!

When I was little all I got was homemade tomato sauce - we thought the bought stuff was wonderful. Of course now it is completely the other way around and my mum doesn't make it anymore :)

dead horse o.0 haven't heard that one before, some of the rhyming slang can be so odd lol

home made sauce always tastes better to me, and has the added benefit of knowing exactly what is in it

Oh I know that exact taste...because I have a jar all of my own! It's almost gone now though...
