This is.......my favourite book......sssss

Well I couldn't choose just one from my overflowing double packed bookcase......
I love reading, I love books, I can't throw any of them away!

My early favourites were anything from Enid Blyton.....sadly these are the only two that I have left......(I've moved house a lot in my life)....

Looking at the handwriting, I'm guessing that this might have been around grade 5 or grade 6!
My high school favourite was definitely 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. This was an english text maybe in year 8 or year 9 and this is my old original copy.
My next favourite is 'Cloudstreet'. This was a gift from one of my cousins when I was in hospital a few years ago. It's a sentimental favourite because of the lovely inscription....
But...this is my all time favourite!
The inscription in this book is from when we lived in a little town in Western Victoria in 1979 (when I was in grade prep).
This book was published by the Australia Council as part of the International Year of the Child in 1979. It was made for kids so that they could look back on how things change. More than 10,000 Australian children submitted their information and a broad selection were used in the final published book. I pulled it out of the bookcase just a few months ago for a re-read and a chuckle.
I've included some photos of the inside so that everyone can have a read!

Thanks to Dees for the great theme this week and to Angela for hosting this great meme.
Happy Sunday!

Oh... Enid Blyton! How I loved her books growing up!

Your end fave is so cool! What a great book to have! It would be great just to keep notes like that of your own kids as they grow up and bind it in a book for them later in life.

So many great choices there. I loved Enid Blyton. Cloud Street is one of my all time favourites too. It was so hard to narrow the list.

I really love that Kids of Australia one. I don't remember that at all.

Hahaha, thanks SO much for showing us those kids drawings. They're brilliant! I could look at those all day.

I am reading Cloudstreet for the first time right now :)
I loved Dirt Music, and felt I had a duty to the country to read Cloudstreet.

Wow, that last book is a real treasure. How lucky you are to have it! I also have some of my original Enid Blyton books, and The Enid Blyton Book of Fairies very nearly made it into my list of 3 favourite books. I only have to read any of the stories in it, to be transported back to a time when I really did think I could find fairies in the bottom of my garden. So magical :)

Oh I was such an Enid Blyton fan as a child - wish I had kept my collection now too! I also adore To Kill A Mockingbird - a great classic.

I'm intrigued by the Our World book as well ... what a lovely thing to have held onto! My sister and I planted a tree at Mornington Primary School to commemorate the International Year of the Child. I wonder if it's still there .....

I grew up reading a lot of Enid Blyton too... I loved Cloudstreet. I'm especially fond of books which feature an Australian environment or history.

Enid Blyton was not a part of my life nor my boys but I do recall seeing them yrs ago.

The One World one is certainly a treasure. You're luck to still have it.

Your copy of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' is identical to mine, I kept it from Year 10 English and still have it now. :D
Year of the child...you've just reminded me, I've got that 'Care for Kids' song in my head now!
