ROYGBIV

Sometimes I make things, take photos, and send them off into the world, and completely forget to blog them.

ROYGBIV is a very good example.

It was a custom order earlier this month for a Gleaners Inc customer, who was looking for a rainbow colour bunting.

Do you still remember the acronyms, sayings and songs that you learned at school to help remember things? I still use them to this very day.

But, I have to admit that I did google the rainbow colours.... just in case. You see, not only did we learn the acronym ROYGBIV, but we also learned that song:

Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too

So... I wonder who is responsible for the little ditty that is factually incorrect?

And, does anyone else still have to recite this:

30 days has September, April June and November.
All the rest have 31, excepting February alone,
which has 28 days clear, and 29 each leap year.

to remember how many days are in each month?

Nice rainbow bunting--I especially like the tiny stripes in the binding that animate the whole thing. And I would be totally lost without that little verse to remember how many days in each month.

I recited that rhyme last night to figure out how many more Blogtoberfest posts there were and have been singing that song to the toddler since the start of the year. Thus her and my rainbow toes.
She is rainbow crazy which is just as well because her new bed book is the Rainbow Toes one you all contributed to so creatively. We never get the colours right but it puts her to sleep anyway!

Great bunting!!
I know that song well I created a print exactly for it.
Yes also to the numbers of days per month rhyme, I use that more often than I should admit.

I do the rhyme for the days in the month everytime I need to work it out, seems to just happen without thinking. Love the bunting.

That last one is way too hard- I learnt "30 days have September, April June and November. When your February's done, all the rest have 31". Much easier! I like the 'spring forward, fall back' one for daylight savings, which I only learnt about 2 years ago!

The rainbow song I sing is:
Paint some red up in the sky
Some orange and some yellow way up high
Paint some green and blue
Some indigo too
Paint some vi-o-let
And what do you get?
All the colours of the rainbow!

There is a tune to, but I can't convey that in a comment. Lol.

I rely on the days of the month ditty too.,

And I still need the 'i befor e, except after c' rule every time I spell a word with 'ie' in it.

Google "They Might Be Giants - Roy G Biv" song" and watch the clip on youtube. All about the rainbow and a funny little man called Roy G Biv! They have a whole album of school maths/ science songs (and a great one for the periodic table of the elements).
