You're never too old to learn something new

How long has it been since you've treated yourself to a new learning experience?

Other than a one day purse making workshop with Nikki, I hadn't challenged myself to completing a course to learn something new since the days when I worked full time.

As I'm going through my google reader and catching up with everyone's blogs, I keep seeing the illustration above.

Though it may seem really simple to some, I still can't believe that just by taking a giant leap of faith and beginning with a short course to learn the tips and tricks of drawing and designing in Photoshop, I've managed to teach myself how to use Illustrator. Combining the two only makes it even better!

So the moral of this little tale?

You're never too old. Challenge yourself. Invest in your knowledge and skills. Take some time just for you.

You just never know what you might learn.

That's fantastic. I've been thinking about doing a short course. Most of the courses I've done in the last few years were on work related stuff. Although I did get swimming lessons earlier this year. Does that count?

I'm the same - my photoshop and illustrator learnings have come so far in the past year. Still lots to learn though!

Ultimately I'd like to start doing blog buttons/headers/printables and the like as both freebies and paid.

Love your drawing - so sweet.

I remember when I first opened up the Adobe programs (especially Illustrator) and thought I wouldn't have a hope of understanding. It was all totally overwhelming.

A year later I feel totally proficient (if not totally professional !) and am loving the journey....

thanks for posting this Cam - I am completely technologically hopeless. The few things I've managed to do on our blog (adding buttons etc) have been after I've googled for how-to's.

It's lucky that Vee is midway through a graphic design course ...

Love your Blogtoberfest logo, I can just imagine how creatively and personally satisfying it is to be able to dream things up and turn them into reality!! Cat.

That's so inspiring - to see your beautiful work of art around the place. Inspiring too, is your message to keep open to new experiences and learning.

Thank you!

It's such a huge learning curve, a short course seems like a good idea.

Oh Cam your button is fantastic. It never ceases to amaze me that I honestly learn something new almost every day. Either via the news, when creating by researching or comparing notes, reading or simply having a chat ... there's so much out there to be learnt. Huge Hugs you clever Girl. xo.

I hear you Cam. It's been so good to play with book binding and art journaling lately, and to stretch myself creatively. I'm loving it.

And I'm so impressed with your new skills.

PS. Why have you got the ridiculous word verification on? Makes it so hard to leave a comment.
