*Put Some Pork on Your Fork

Sometimes markets are like tattslotto.... even though you played the game, you'll never come out a winner in the end.

My older sister came along to play donkey this time around. Lucky, because the cobblestones are a little bit of an obstacle for my trolleys.

The marquee and table set up was fantastic. The weather and site selection was terrible, and the signage was non-existent. We couldn't even find it to set up, and we had a map with the location marked!
Then combine that with all of the lane closures around the Flemington area for the MS bike ride, and it's no wonder there were no customers.

We made the most of it by chatting to our lovely stall neighbour, and thankfully we also had some visits from wonderful peeps who braved the rain and wind and sunshine and humidity and rain and wind and........

Never one to miss an opportunity when we get to pack up nice and early, we headed off to Kensington where we visited Onabee.

I bought my sister a lovely Red Parka print as a thankyou for her donkey duties, and I found that they stock my favourite A5 size sketch books (so excited about that as the shop where I was buying them has since closed).

A day out just wouldn't be a day out without some good coffee and good food.

Next door to Onabee is a lovely cafe named The Premises. I had the Crispy Bacon and Egg Roll with Spicy Tomato Relish (without the eggs as I don't eat egg)...

.... and my sister had the Pulled Pork with Coleslaw and Spicy Apples.

I'll definitely be heading back there, it was delicious!

* Sorry about the post title, but I couldn't help myself. When else will I be including a photo of pork which warrants such a silly title?

Oh wow... those coffees look... well, I could certainly go one of those about now, & The Boy would be extremely jealous re: The Pulled Pork.

Boo about the market (again) but you can't really be too upset when you end up with a lovely lunch like that with undoubtedly lovely company.

Such a shame about the market Cam, youjust can't tell what will happen with the day can you?
Your coffee and food afterwards looked like it made up for a lot of the disappointment of the day!

So sad the market bombed Cam. But how lovely that you could get a little shopping and eating in! That pulled pork meal looks like a candy ploughman's lunch - love ploughman's lunches!! Will have to check it out next time I am in town.

Darn about the market. The anniversary was mentioned on the ABC news, interviewing old Drovers. But no mention of a market. :-( Yes it certainly is like Tattslotto.

We had a market like that yesterday :( But it was just strifeling hot in an indoor centre that had no cross ventelation and no aircon. Like working in a slow cooker with a few fans.

But the food looks great!

What a disappointment about the market, because your stall looks really fabulous. At least you got a trip into Onabee - that would have been fun.

(PS. Is that green, leafy rocket in your sandwich or your sisters?!)

Bad luck with the market. I guess just one of those days. The end of day treat more than made up for that disappointment by the looks of that meal. Yum-yum-yum! I am building an appetite just thinking about it. I am a sucker for bacon between bread — especially when it is with croissant and melted cheese.

Sorry the market was not so good for you, Cam. There'll be others and they will be tons better I am sure. Looking at your food photos just as I am about to go looking for breakfast has made me very hungry indeed. The Pulled Pork with Coleslaw and Spicy Apples looks fab.

Egg isn't a vegetable you know? You would have been quite safe I'm sure!

Ah the joys of market life huh? The ups and downs and the unpredictable nature of victorian weather....but you committe4d and gave it a go. Good for you.
