Finally

It seems like I've been harping on about this woollen jumper forever.... until lastnight, when I finally tired of it sitting on my craft bench and mocking me while I sewed!

The photo above is the style that I was aiming for. All I did was to cut it down the centre front panel, and then hack the arms off with a pair of scissors.

I really liked the look of the short sleeve cardi. I didn't like the fact that the arm holes were actually cutting off my circulation. I have my hands on my hips in the photo because the arm holes were so tight that I physically couldn't put my arms by my side.

Luckily for this project (unluckily for when I actually try to buy clothes), I have really narrow shoulders which are quite out of proportion to the rest of my body. My shoulders are actually the perfect size for my poor little shrunken jumper.

I kept hacking at the arm holes trying to fix the problem, but it seems that the arm holes had other ideas, so I hacked off the arms entirely...

.....and ended up with this.

At least it's a beginning - I'm looking forward to trying out some felted refashioning projects after looking at even more inspiration this week here and here.

It's very cute :-) I'm amazed at how something so funky can result from so much chopping! I'm very impressed by all the brave refashioning going about at the moment.

Looks great even so and is one more job done. It might be too small for you but I am sure you can sell it. Could you let me know what it is made of. I would love to try felting but after my complete failure last time I am scared to waste my money even on wool least it not work. Cherrie

It's all about perserverance! It would have been easy to get disheartened after the "big shrink" but what you've done is awesome!

I really like it. It looks better without the sleeves. You are very clever!

okay--this remodel of a shrunken sweater could have just started a felting revolution! Seriously cute!

I think that it looks great. I love the color, the brooch, and how you paired it with the dark eggplant-purply shirt. I love jewel-tones lately.

Have fun doing some more felted projects. I can't wait to see them.

I love it Cam, it looks great on and it looks even better with the circulation cutting sleeves off!!! lovely colour

The sleeveles version even makes your shoulders look a little broarder. Those coours go well together! For the felting, even 60 degrees can be enough, and detergent is good.
Narrow shoulders can be a problem, especially when they were not delivered with thin arms.

So cute! I've been a jumper-felting addict for a while now but haven't really kept any for myself. I doubt that anything would fit me after being felted (you know that I'm not exactly petite!), but this is a great look for you :-)
