Testing Testing 1 2 3 again

After a day at the markets on Saturday, I was itching to do some sewing yesterday. So, I got out of bed, made coffee, and started whipping up this extremely cute Specs Case (in my pyjamas).

It's another new pattern from Nikki at Nicole Mallalieu Design which will be available very very soon. I used a vintage floral pillowcase teamed with a spotty print that I picked up from Amitie.

I think the thing that I love the most about this one is that I can use it for my big Blowfly Oroton sunglasses, or alternatively, I can actually probably fit at least two pairs of my normal everyday glasses - which then means that I can carry all of my different coloured glasses in my handbag at all times, and then just change colours to suit my mood.... and it's so much prettier than the ugly plastic cases that they give you at the optometrist!

I thought PJs were the required uniform for sewing! I think it looks quite swish. Great job! I am a bit nervous about taking on that kind of project. Lisa.

Oh I do love it! I need a sunnies case too! Will you be at the Leinster Grove Market again in early September? Can I buy one off you then?

Niiice. Great colour combo. And can't think of any reason why you wouldn't stay in your pyjamas ALL day on Sundays. (Sunday being the day of rest/pyjamas and all).

I love it Cam I might have to even try one myself for my specs, I have so far shyed away from framed purses thinking they will be too hard

It looks fantastic. You'd better be careful - you're getting in a bit of a groove with all these patterns.

I hope the finished product is available to buy from Nicole or is it only in kit or pattern form ?

its very pretty. But I'd be afraid the glasses would get bent if the case isn't a little rigid to protect them. Is it? :)

Love ya work - thanks so much for being guinea pig again.

Just to answer a few people's questions (and take the burden off you, Cam!),the kit should be ready by this Wednesday. There is some structural support in the purse - although it's not rigid. It's really designed to protect against scratches, not crushes.

Too bad I don't need a case for my glasses, because I wear them all the time. Your fabrics look so cute together!

Fantastic! Where do you buy the clasp for the case?

Ooh niiiice! I think I need to make me one of them. Love the spots!

I too have a big pair of those Oroton specs and the case they came with is bloody huge! Too big for my handbag so I usually just pop them in a side pocket, and invariably throw my keys on top of them. I need to get myself a cute little case.
Yours is gorgeous!

Love it! Colour combintion, shape, patterns, size... surely with adding buckram or two layers of buckram, wouldn't that allow for a little more rigidity to protect the glasses a little more?

Its very cute - the test was obviously a huge success! I will have to buy the pattern when it comes out too. My sunglasses have a ridiculously large and heavy case.

I love the orange fabric... It certainly is very retro. Definitely beats those hideous leather cases my granddad uses... ewe!!

That's so great and love the fabric combo! I need to get that pattern when it's released - would also be good for my sunglasses, which never fit in any cool cases...
