Lucky Dip

One of my absolute pet peeves about Op Shops is the way that they write directly on objects with permanent marker, or use lots of icky yucky sticky tape that leaves a horrible residue all over things.

Stickytaping the lid shut on any type of boardgame fits into the abovementioned category!

When I spotted this little beauty (securely stickytaped of course), all I could do was shake the box, guess what was inside, pay the $2, and hope for the best.

I found it well over a month ago, but it somehow went from the back of my car and ended up in the garage?

On Sunday, I finally cut open the stickytape and was ready for the big reveal.....

Now what on earth am I going to do with fifty plastic owls?

Even I can't think of what one'd do with 50 plastic owls.

Swapping them is a good idea.

I bet you will think of something Cam. They are very cute I must say.

Whatever it is, you'll have to make do with 49 plastic owls... 'cause you're sending me a yellow one. Aren't you? ;)

What a gorgeous game and 50 owls - what a lovely dilema to have!!

OMG!!! Give me some. That's what you can do with them. Based on the comments I don't think there's going to be any real issue.

I like them too. And I get annoyed with those things too. But now I want to know what you thought might be in that box!

EEEEK, what a fabulous surprise inside the box that was!
I would be using at least one to make a miniature terrarium, with a little twig tree for an owl to perch on.

Start a 50 owl project. Maybe if we send you an owl picture or softie or brooch or whatever we're good at, you'll auction them on ebay for charity and we'll be sent a thank you owl in return. Then there'll be an exclusive club of 50 CurlyPops Owl crafters. You can only send in one thing, so it'll have to be SUPER special... best to do it while owls are still the IN thing!
OK, I'll go boss my kids around now...

They are super cute. So I take it just using them as a board game for your nephews is not really an option?

A necklace is a good idea. Some sort of mobile. Earrings. Key chain decoration. Ribbon bookmark decoration.

Keep them together as a game. Then you can play it when you're baby-sitting. Seems a shame to seperate them as adorable as they are...

OMG I wish I could find stuff like that. I was going to say everything that's been said already except send some to Cass!

Oh wow. What a gorgeous little group of owls. Well, make that big group of little owls. Make some into rings (those ones which have bases that you can attach things to) I'd fight my daughter for one of those!

Oh my! I used to play that game as a kid! Memories :)

Hah - I was going to say send some to me too but I don't think there will be any left! You certainly have to make some fabric featuring them - that would be ace :)

The word verification is flenest so the fates are obviously telling you that the owls need to flee the nest to my house!!

How fun to open a box of the cutest owls. I am sure you will find something very appropriate for them.

We had that game as kids and now my 2.75 year old plays it and loves it. So maybe see if your nephews are into it before you separate the pieces. You can always use them for something else once they outgrow it.

Love the surprise element.

Owls are this year's deer, aren't they?

You could probably make a fortune selling them to the gen x'ers.

We have this game too after a fortuitous Oppie trip. The Munchkin loves playing it and I find it hard not to covet the wee owls!
I look forward to hearing what you come up with! :)

(Finally catching up in some posts, I am...) I *love* these
Cam! And I say this as one who is ever so well and truly *over* owls! I think I'll be looking out for this one forever at the oppies now - because I think the best thing to do (until the kids grew out of it) would be to play that game - so cute! Failing that, definitely necklaces, and at a tidy profit too, I reckon.
