When a seriously talented and successful crafter gives tips, I listen.
I've been using paint cards and playing cards as backing for my brooches, and I was also considering using some 1970's recipe cards.
Liz just happened to mention a little tidbit about the busyness of the packaging taking the spotlight away from the actual product - and it was one of those lightbulb moments.
So, after a little bit of re-thinking, I ordered some very white and very plain postcards.
Now my next task is to tone down the look of my market stall..... could be difficult!

They look great & really stand out on the white background.
They look great Cam. Three cheers for Liz.
Nothing like a bit of white white white to make things stick out and be proud.
They look great! I love the red one Cam...
I like the new look... they stand out nicely!
It looks fantastic! What great advice! I'll remember this for the day I finally pull my finger out and do a market stall.
they look fantastic Cam!!
oh I adore the cards...
It looks soooooo professional...
amazing how the brooches just stand out and say "buy me"....
They look great - the white makes them stand out!!
they look great Cam- very professional! Now I am off to order one from you.
It's just like Master Chef. You have to let the "star" be the star. They look great.
I agree with Tinniegirl. I am all for a white background with everything- we painted the inside of our house white ( it took me three years to convince Chef of this) and it just makes everything pop- all our bright artwork etc looks so much better.
White tablecloths on the market stall look really nice too... I think the only strong colours should be your products- they are lovely and colourful themselves...
Good advice from a veteran! I think, when you're on a winner like these gorgeous brooches, you can just let the items speak for themselves.
Having said that, creative and fun packaging is great - but it's just a bonus, wouldn't make me buy the product.
I love them - they look fantastic.
Brilliant Cam, so simple but so affective.
They look great! They really pop now!
Hey,
The packaging looks great; clean, simple and stylish. Theckaging now makes sure that your gorgeous brooches take all the glory.
Love the new-look backing cards!!
I'm glad the titbit worked.I like the new packaging. But I don't seem to practice what I preach most times as my brooches are usually sold on playing cards too.
A lovely lady was wearing one of your brooches on her bright and colourful felted scarf and it worked a treat.Colour on colour looked stunning in that instance!
Great idea, they look fabulous!!! ;)Maybe I should think about my packaging now...Parcel left;)
They do look really nice, I have made a few websites for artists and they start out by wanting crazy backgrounds and I talk them into having white so that their work stands out. It does work.
Yaya for Liz - she is so generous.
I think they look great Cam and perhaps the white tablecoths are a good idea too
(or maybe a smaller white one over a darker one- so the bottom of the white one does not get filthy by the days end).
Very nice, I like the idea of the postcard. I might take your second hand advice and have a re-think about my stall for sisters in two weekends time. I wonder if a white base will make an impact ....
The new cards look really professional - nice job! They really make the brooches stand out.
Good for you for making a change Cam. Sometimes it can be hard to let go of what you know. I hope you sell a million trillon brooches!
I agree, a light background highlights your beautiful product!
I have to smile everytime I enter your blog because of the happy colors.
I'm doing a major blog catch up so bear with my comments... ;) Happy weekend!
Your totally right, sometimes simple is best! These look fabulous and you don't want to take away from the brooches! :)
Just lovely! They make the brooches really stand out-very effective
Lovely, Cam. Oops. Just remembered the apron...getting onto it tonight. Lisa.
They do indeed look fabulous!
They look great....I'm working on a new logo at the moment so it may result in some new packaging to boot!
