Who ya gonna call.... Spiderbusters!

A post without a photo.... read on to find out why!

I had a terrible emergency lastnight..... I partook in my normal routine - call the cat inside, lock the front door, turn off all the lights. I headed up to my bedroom to go to sleep when I spotted a huge Huntsman spider on the ceiling above my bed. I screamed and ran to the ensuite.... and then thought to myself, "What the hell am I supposed to do now?". There's always been someone else in the house to deal with spider emergencies.

I called my brother first and he was already in bed, so I called my brother in law next. Luckily, he came straight around and sprayed it and took it outside and put it in the bin. There were a few icky moments when it ran under the bed and he couldn't find it..... but thank goodness, I witnessed him actually take out outside to the bin so I'm sure it's definitely gone for good!

I really really despise spiders......

I refuse to put a spider picture on my blog... I would just end up scaring myself.

Oh dear, not good at all. I hope that's the last one to visit you.

You'll have to make a deal with them like I did many years ago. I told the spiders of this world that if they stayed out of my way I would stay out of theirs. And that's the way its worked pretty much ever since.

Urgh. Why do they always end up in the bedroom at bedtime?!

Huntsman spiders are the good ones, they eat everything else and won't hurt you. Best to leave them be.

But if you _really_ must get rid of a spider, a fly or an annoying wasp grab your vaccuum. They'll go for a wild ride from which they won't return.

YYYUUKKKKK! I hate huntsmen. But in turn I believe they hate orange oil. Perhaps a quick spritz around the bedroom? (Oh and we haven't had any spiders in the house, since we got one of those metered pyrethrim sprays that sit in the corner and work their magic).

I don't normally have a problem with spiders and am trying to teach the kids to just leave them alone despite their dad turning into a girly wimp at the first sign of a spider and completely over reacting,BUT as a teenager when I went to have a shower, stripped and pulled back the shower curtain and there was one on the shower wall....well suffice to say I wasn't joining it. Got dressed, went and got my dad to move it, he was laughing at me the whole time the crumb!

I'm with you, I don't dig on the hairy spiders. I bought myself a spider catcher so I can keep them at arm's distance and toss them into the garden. I freeze. EEEEK!

That is, I'm sure you'll see in hindsight, pretty funny. I have no fear of spiders and am curious about those who do. My stepson has a phobia. I noted he left shoes outside and they're covered in webs. It explains why two other pairs of shoes have been religiously put away of late. Tee hee.

Thank you for the lovely comment on my blog. I am not sure it was "eloquent". It felt more like an emotional blab at the time. I'm still thinking, but have been so heartened by all the kind words.

Oh dear,
Poor Mr Huntsman.
I caught a big one yesterday in the railway carriage when Matt (the builder) was fitting it out. Glad he didn't bash it (would have left a big mushy mess anyway). They are super easy to catch. Just select a tall wide drinking glass (so his legs won't get caught) and an envelope. Place the glass over the spider and slip the envelope between the wall and the glass. Take Mr Spidey outside into the garden where they SHOULD live, and give him a good talking to. Easy! :)

Oh I totally understand! I scream, cry and generally panic when one of those crosses my path. Though no one comes to save me like your knight in shining Armour! My husband thinks it hilarious to either sit next to them so i panic more OR try to catch them to throw at me!! How lucky u are!

Yuck, I remember when I was younger and still living at home everyone had gone away for the weekend so I was home alone. A huge huntsman appeared in our lounge room but I couldn't reach it so I stayed up all night watching it so it didn't hide somewhere. Luckily the next morning it scurried down the wall and I managed to whack it

luckerly i don't have a thing about spiders...my huge fear is snakes...
can't stand them, and for some unknown reason we seem to have a lot of them in the country...i'd be easily tempted to move to a country without them..

Isn't it funny how everyone has their "thing". I don't mind spiders at all.
Now snakes or mice, that's another matter!
Glad to hear it was resolved for you.

Huntsman are pretty scary looking, that much I can agree with! I usually enlist my mum to catch and release for me, unless it's in an unreachable spot; then I resort to flyspray.

Oh, I hate spiders too! I'm glad you didn't post a picture or I might have thrown my laptop across the room before I realised it was only a pic! I too have had to make the 'come and save me from a spider' call. Maybe some hypnotherapy is required here....?
